October 11, 2017, Local ABC and NBC affiliate First Coast News reports on Save Guana Now's efforts to protect Outpost land. Also, scroll past video for statements and further reporting. October 17, 2017, News4Jax WJXT reports on the Outpost controversy. A threatened Tri-Colored Heron is filmed directly in front of the Outpost, contradicting a statement from Gate denying the land harbors significant species. Among Gate's false claims, it states that independent environmental firms concluded there is no significant wildlife at the Outpost property; however, the habitat and species survey Gate submitted to the county was bought and paid for by Gate and is not independent.

Correction: VOID stated: "the Florida Department of Environmental Protection has come out in staunch opposition to Gate's proposal." In fact, DEP only submitted a cautionary memo to the county.
